Gauge

You don’t need to worry too much about the gauge for this pattern. Just choose a hook that works well with your yarn. I always like to use a slightly smaller hook than the yarn label suggests—this helps keep the stitches nice and tight, so the stuffing doesn’t poke through. If your stitches look a bit loose, try going down a hook size.

But if you’d like to check the gauge I got with my yarn, here it is:
Using super bulky chenille yarn and a 6 mm hook, 4 rounds (ending with 24 stitches) measure about 2.5″ (5 cm) across.

FAQ about this Crochet Cupcake plush

What kind of yarn should I use?

This cupcake is designed with plush yarn (also known as velvet or chenille yarn), which gives it that soft and squishy feel. It’s ideal for cozy, huggable amigurumi and works especially well for small crochet food projects like this one.

Can I use regular yarn instead of plush yarn?

Absolutely! You can use worsted-weight cotton or acrylic yarn if you prefer a more traditional amigurumi texture. Just keep in mind that the finished size and softness may vary depending on your yarn choice. And remember to adapt the needle size.

Can I sell finished items made with this pattern?

Yes, you’re welcome to sell finished cupcakes made from this pattern! I kindly request that you credit The Nomad Knot as the designer and link back to the original post whenever possible.
