NO-SEW CROCHET WHALE
List of Materials:
- 6mm crochet hook,
- Chenille yarn of your preference. I used Hobbii Baby Snuggle in blue.
- Black embroidery thread for the eyes.
- Sewing needle,
- Stuffing material hypoallergenic polyester,
- Scissors
Finish size:
This toy is crocheted using super bulky yarn and a 6 mm hook. The finished size is approximately 41 cm (16 inches) long and 11 cm (4.3 inches) tall.
Gauge
You don’t need to worry too much about the gauge for this pattern. Just choose a hook that works well with your yarn. I always like to use a slightly smaller hook than the yarn label suggests—this helps keep the stitches nice and tight so the stuffing doesn’t poke through. If your stitches look a bit loose, try going down a hook size.
But if you’d like to check the gauge I got with my yarn, here it is:
Using super bulky chenille yarn and a 6 mm hook, 4 rounds (ending with 24 stitches) measure about 2.5″ (5 cm) across.
